Mike Reed is a renowned TV Commercial film editor, and has been a key figure in Australian film and video post production for over 45 years. He has won numerous awards and has been inducted into the F.A.C.T.S Hall of fame, Australian Screen Editors (ASE) accreditation, life membership of Melbourne Art Directors Club and achieving twice their award for “A Person Who contributed the most creatively.”
Reeds passion for photography has led him to focus on storytelling and exploring the quirky, double meaning, and juxtaposed oddities of life. He has participated in various organisations, including AASPi, MAP Group and Image Chasers and collaborated with the Melbourne Book Collective to further his bookmaking.
Reed has completed 10 books; been involved in numerous group shows and proudly presented 4 solo exhibitions… “Shrouds”, a deathly idea on cars, “3000 Streets”, focusing on quirky street-based content, “Road Works Ahead" involving graphical studies of road surfaces around the world and more recently “Eyes on India”, portraits and places from trips to India. In 2021 he curated a show called 21AD grouping 21 artists who had retired from the Advertising Industry.
His photographs have been chosen as finalists and winning entries including a landscape finalist in the CLIP awards and won the 2020 Most Humorous Award at CCP and recently as a finalist in Martin Kandor Portrait prize 2023.
Recently Mike's work was selected by the Editor of Life Framers in their 'Street Life' theme, commenting on the 'Humorous visual narrative that Mike conjures through sharp timing and a clean composition.’
