Fotovague is entirely different from abstract photography, intentional camera movement and constructed reality (e.g. works by Jeff Wall, Gregory Crewdson and Andreas Gursky).
Each of these styles are engaged in bending and/or distorting real world situations to fit the concept of the artist. They leave one with a hollow feeling: clever… but in the end… false. Fotovague is disarming. Because its images are anchored in the real world they have meaning. But that meaning is not apparent. You have to work at it to get it.
